    Capitol City Hangar!
    Hey there.
I have some disappointing news for you all today. Classic Racer #6 was unable to make it to the finish line by 5 p.m. this evening due to enroute thunderstorms. We have consequently been disqualified from the race.
It’s okay to be upset. Rachel and I shed a few tears, in Athens, OH, the second to last stop of the race, a hop skip and a jump from the finish line, when we realized we wouldn’t...
  • Mother Nature Let Us Fly Today!
    June 18, 2014
The theme of today’s blog will be opposites.
We’ll start with yesterday and today.
Yesterday: Grounded. (I think that about sums it up.)
Today: Flew four legs of the air race classic.  That equates to almost 10 hours in the air and so far, barely 4 on the ground.
I think the more interesting of our two topics today will be the start and end of today's race route.
    Start: Elko, NV.. allow...
  • Air Race Bonding in Elko
    June 18, 2014
    Hi guys,
Today’s blog will be short and sweet. It was not too eventful race wise. Everyone who stayed in Elko, NV last night, was weathered in today. The upside is that we spent the whole day bonding with air racers. We all wanted to leave so bad that we spent the whole day at the airport waiting for the skies to clear. (I don’t think Mother Nature ever participated in the air race classic. If she did she...
  • And We're Off!

    End of Race Day 1
    Hello again,
Just in case you were wondering, today was amazing.  Taking off was one of the most exciting, nerve-racking, fun, unreal experiences I’ve ever had. Although we sat through briefings to prepare us, I’m not sure it can actually be understood until you do it. (That doesn’t mean I won’t try in this blog post.) I guess it’s the same as most other flights, an exciting, heavy workload at beginning and end, with time to relax in between.
  • Goodbye Safety Briefings! and Hello Race Day!
    June 16, 2014
    ARC 2014
Are you all ready to hear about Air Race Safety Briefings?
Rachel and I had to be. You get penalized if you’re not there and on time. (Luckily we were quick on the learning curve and woke up early enough for Starbucks.) The photo above is all of the lovely ladies racing with us. These briefings and last night’s banquet gave Rachel and I ample time to meet everyone. I’m still not there yet though. Count all of the...
  • Hello San Fransisco!

    San Fransisco
    Well hello there,
I hope you all had a good day! It got pretty eventful over here at the Air Race Classic. Spoiler Alert! We went to San Francisco!!!
Along for the ride were the Racing Rosies, another classic team. I’m so glad they could come along. They were so much fun! You should check out their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/RacingRosies. Rachel and I made it into one of their video blogs today!! They dress as Rosie the...
  • 3 Day Recap!
    June 13, 2014
    Somewhere in the western U.S.
    Hi again!
Long time no see. I’m sorry y’all haven’t been getting updates every day, but the past couple have been crazy. We’ve been travelling so much that by the time we'd get in for the night I'd about fall asleep before making it to a bed.  So I hope you want to hear about it, because you’re about to get an earful.
Tuesday was filled with a whole lot of fun and if we’re being...

    Flying over St. Louis
    Well hello there,
Rachel and I got to the airport this morning around 7 a.m. eastern time. We pre-flighted, packed up the airplane and got interviewed by Purdue Media (I’m finally famous!). We'd love to thank everyone who came out to support us this morning. It means so much to have our advisors and staff behind us, and not to mention all of the online support we've been receiving. Thanks you guys!
After being in the air for...
  • Getting Ready For Monday's Takeoff
    June 8, 2014
    Plane Jumping!
    Hey all,
Today Rachel and I ran around West Lafayette getting everything together for Monday morning's departure. I'm not sure we left a single store without forgetting something, so that was fun. (Did I mention we made a list before we left in the morning?) We'll see how we fair on our adventures tomorrow. Hopefully we will have learned our lesson by Monday. Cross you fingers for us will ya?
Anyway, eventually we made it out to the...
